The 2017 Annual Convention of the Convocation of Episcopal Churches in Europe will be hosted by the Church of St Augustine of Canterbury from October 19 to 22, 2017. We expect 80 guests – delegates, alternates, spouses/partners and guests – from around the Convocation, from the Diocese in Europe, and from the Episcopal Church Center in New York.
The Convention sessions will be held at the Roncalli Haus, Evensong (Saturday at 5.30 pm) and the Closing Festive Eucharist (Sunday at 11 am) at the church.
The theme of this year’s Convocation Convention is: “The Jesus Movement”
Principal speaker will be The Rev. Canon Michael Hunn, Canon to the Presiding Bishop for Ministry Within the Episcopal Church. Canon Hunn is a member of the Strategic Plan Committee. He will be the liaison from the Presiding Bishop’s Office guiding the Convocation in the election of a new Bishop in charge for the Convocation.
Bishop Whalon will make his annual Bishop’s Address to Convention. Elections will be held for various offices, and we will hear about ministries around the Convocation.
Another key topic is the Strategic Plan which will be presented at our Convocation Convention by the Strategic Plan Committee on Friday, October 20. This kicks off the Bishop Search Process which ends with the election of a new Bishop in Charge during next year’s Convention in Waterloo, Belgium and with his or her Ordination and Consecration on April 6, 2019 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Paris.
