Sunday Service May 24, 2020
You can join our worship service this Sunday, May 24 at 10.00 am either in church, or live online (via Facebook Live). Our readings are Acts 1:6-14 (the story of Jesus’ Ascension), 1 Peter 4:12-14; 5:6-11 (more encouragement for those who suffer for their faith – with the devil described as being “like a roaring lion your adversary the devil prowls around”), and John 17:1-11 (while there is no Ascension event in John’s Gospel, this section of Jesus’ final discourse picks up many of the same themes of leaving and sending: “Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son,” “Now they know that everything you have given me is from you; for the words that you gave to me I have given to them”). Robert Vukovic will be preaching. The order of service is here.
If all goes well, you can go straight to the video using this link (even if you do not have a Facebook account)!
Should that not work, please go to our Facebook page here and scroll down until you find the Livestream, which we will start at 9.45 am (the service will start at the usual time of 10.00 am).
If you want to include prayers for yourself or another during the Prayers of the People at any of our services, please send me an email Or if you are watching the service live on Facebook, you can write your prayer request in the comments and we will pick them up.
Following the service at 11.30 am we have our Online Children’ Church: click here to join us.
As you know, due to distancing rules (1.5m), we can only allow 50 people into church at a time. Now that we have had in-person services for a few weeks, we want to review the number of people planning on coming to church. And as next Sunday, Pentecost, is a Feast Day, make sure we can accomodate everyone who wants to worship in person on that day. We will continue to livestream all in-person services (improving audio and video as we go!)
IMPORTANT: Please take part in this very short survey (3 questions, 1 minute) to help us plan for Pentecost and beyond! Here are this week’s announcements:
