This Sunday is St. Francis’ Day, commemorating his death on 4 October 1226. In recognition of Francis’ care for all of creation, it also brings the Season of Creation to a close. And so it is appropriate that we celebrate this conclusion with Harvest Festival and the Blessing of the Animals.

We welcome your gifts of fruit, vegetables, preserves etc. All edible food items will be donated to our Mission Partner, the Teestube. The following fresh produce would be especially welcomed: Potatoes, onions, pumpkins, leeks, carrots, oranges, mandarin oranges, apples, and bananas (also dried pasta – anything good for a soup or stew). You can bring donations to the church on Saturday between 11.00 am and 2.00 pm (opening hours of the book sale and Nearly New) or on Sunday morning.

A creche/nursery service is available during the service in the undercroft. There is no Sunday School this week, instead the children join us for a family service.

Peace Prayer in Mainz

The next 2026 dates are 3 October Day of German Unity, 12 November during the “Friedensdekade” and 18 December for the Bethlehem Peace Light.

On Sunday 11 October after church and coffee hour Br. James Dowd, OSB will lead an adult forum on modern Benedictine and Monastic life and spirituality. Br. James is the founding Prior of The Benedictine Way, and has been a monk for many years. Before serving in Nebraska, he served at Holy Cross Monastery in West Park, NY and at Mariya uMama weThemba Monastery in Grahamstown, South Africa. Brother James is passionate about exploring the intersection of the quest for Christian social justice and the contemplative life.
